To whom it may concern,
My name is Margret Castina and I am writing to voice my distain with the recent “attack” advertising practices that were demonstrated across Capitol Hill recently. It seems to me that guerilla marketing have turned to desperate and dangerous techniques to grab attention.
I was walking down 17th street when I hit H Street, and I found two young men who were laying down stencils and openly spray painting on the street. At first I assumed this must have been a government authorized campaign, until I read “GOLDS GYM: Special Event, Free Workouts.” I was blown away at the audacity that they were armed with; they were illegally and openly defacing our nation’s capitol! I had to ask them who they were, they didn’t give me an answer, I suppose my tone may have given away my negative opinion of their practices.
I walked further down 17th street when I saw another stencil on the sidewalk, a 20 something kid was standing over the work. I asked if he was involved, he laughed, “No but this is pretty crazy isn’t it, aerosol on Earth day too” He told me he ran into the same guys and they told him they were EyeGoo Media and Marketing, based out of Brooklyn NY. Why they told him, probably because he showed interest and appreciation, where I showed disapproval.
